The Greene County farmers market will begin its 2016 season next Tuesday, June 7, with plenty to see and do.
A dozen vendors will offer an array of produce, baked goods and handcrafted items. The Jefferson Lions Club will serve a supper of pulled pork sandwiches, chips, watermelon and bottled water, and “the Old Guy” (aka Ken Paxton) will provide musical entertainment.
Market hours are 4 to 6:30 pm. The market is held on the east side of the courthouse in Jefferson.
New vendors are welcome at any time. Cost for vendor space is $20 per week or $120 for the entire season. Vendors younger than 18 who are selling produce from their own garden, or their own baked goods or crafts, pay a reduced rate for their space. Persons who want to become vendors should email GCFarmersMarket.37@gmail.com or see Greene County Farmers Market on Facebook for more details.
There are also several dates available for organizations to serve fundraiser meals. Persons who want more information about meals can call Nancy Rogers at 712-210-1001.
The farmers market is held every Tuesday through Sept. 29.
